Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese anime that is part of the Dragon Ball franchise. Dragon Ball Z was made by Toei Animation. The anime was released in Japan on April 26, 1989 and it ended in January 31, 1996. The anime latter aired on Nicktoons and the CW Vortexx block. Due to the CW and Nicktoons targeting a younger demographic some scenes were censored, as a result violence was toned down, drug references were removed and references to death were removed.

• Episode 1

1. The scene that shows Bardock elbowing Freeza in the face was modified for the Nicktoons broadcast. In the Nicktoons version the blood and scar were digitally removed.
2. The scene that shows a close up on Bardock was modified for the Nicktoons broadcast. In the Nicktoons version the blood and the scar were digitally removed.
3. The scene that shows Piccolo coughing up blood was modified for the Nicktoon broadcast. In the Nicktoons version Piccolo is coughing up spit.
4. The scene that shows a cigarette in the farmer's mouth was modified for the Nicktoons broadcast. In the Nicktoons version the cigarette was digitally removed.
5. The scene where Picco says "Then unless you're in a hurry to die, keep moving!" it was changed to "Then unless you're looking for trouble, keep moving!"
6. The scene where Picco says "Why you I should kill you where you stand!" it was changed to "Why you?" Do you have any idea who you're talking to?" No one talks to me like that and gets away."
7. The scene that shows Roshi holding a glass filled with beer was modified for the Nicktoons broadcast. In the Nicktoons version the beer was digitally recolored white.
8. The scene that shows Roshi trying to grab Bulma's breasts was cut.
9. The scene where Bulma says "Yamcha that jerk! How should I know! He could be out chasing every girl in the city for all I care, I'm done with him! I didn't even tell him we were getting together today! But who needs that guy right? We can still have fun without him!" it was changed to "That idiot! I don't even wanna think about him! He made me so mad I didn't even tell him I was gonna to be here today! I never wanna see him again I'm done with him for good! I mean can you believe it? He took another girl on a date!"
10. The scene that shows Raditz hitting Krillin which results in him flying past Goku was modified for the Nicktoons broadcast. In the Nicktoons version the blood was changed to spit.
11. The scene where Raditz says "What the hell have you been doing here all these years?" it was changed to "What the heck have you been doing here all these years?"

1. The scene that shows Piccolo bleeding was modified for the Nicktoons broadcast. In the Nicktoons version the blood was digitally removed.
2. The scene that shows blood on Goku's face and neck was modified for the Nicktoons broadcast. In the Nicktoons version the blood was digitally removed.
3. The scene where Raditz says "What the hell happened to you?" it was changed to "What has happened to you?"
4. The scene where Goku says "I'll die before I help you murder an entire world full of people!" it was changed to "I'll die before I join a ruthless gang of pirates like you!"
5. The scene where Goku says "Damn you!" was muted.
